Neither obtuse nor abstruse. At times of stress, floaters can at least seem more abundant. But I also believe we're more apt to notice them and let them bother us when we're feeling low.

When I feel good, I almost never think about my floaters. When I haven't had much sleep, they drive me bonkers.
