I used Serzone with a small dose of Effexor...and it was *excellent*. The only reason I stopped it was because my doctor didn't want to continue prescribing it because of the 'liver thing' problem...but I don't know how much of a problem that even is. I think you MAY want to consider the combo, as it greatly reduces the aggitation that Effexor brings on, with even further added a.d. and anti-anxiety benefits.Best wishes,
Jay

Your doctor might have been misinformed when he stopped your Serzone due to liver worries. I thought that the guest doctor we had a few months a go on this site said that if Serzone is going to cause liver problems, a lab test will be positive shortly after starting on it.
Therefore, it is OK to start on Serzone. You then take a lab test a few months later. If your lab test shows no problem, you can keep taking it with no worries about liver problems.
Anyway, do some research and check it out. Maybe I misunderstood the doc.

Serzone is awesome. I have tried everything.. (SSRI's are the worst possible medication in the world) unless you like insomnia and more severe panic/anxiety attacks. UGH... anyways... i started taking Serzone sometime last year and its great. No side effects at all. At first i was scared shitless to take it serzone... i was worried of side effects.. but there is nothing to worry about. It cut maybe 50% of my anxiety problems and helps me sleep a hell of alot better at night. THE ONLY NEGATIVE THING I HAVE TO SAY IS.... Im a drinker... very socialable drinker... (2x's a week..tons and tons of beer) and im that 1 out of 250,000 people who will probally get liver disease. I cant quit drinking :( And Serzone is the only tolerable medication out there. Anyways... GOOD LUCK

I'm on Serzone in addition to Wellbutrin. It has kept my anxiety under control ever since it kicked in. I had some pretty bad side effects at first (anxiety, confusion, dizziness, forgetfulness) but all went away after a few weeks. I'm glad I stuck it out. I had a baseline liver function test. If the next test shows abnormalities I can go off the medication without any permanent liver damage.

Serzone helped me while I was on it--it actually did the job and my doctor took me off of medication after being on it for 6 months. I guess he thought I was better.
Anyway, I had a positive experience with it. No weight gain, some side effects but this was taken care of by taking the bulk of my dosage at night.

> rossRoss,
Here's a positive story: Serzone was THE BEST med I've ever been put on. For my combo anxiety/OCD/depression problem, it worked like a charm. And it kept working-- the benefits never faded and the SE were low (mild libedo lowering).
Unfortunately, after one year, it caused a pretty rare SE-- intense ringing in my ears. For an obsessive-compulsive, that can literally drive you crazy. So I had no choice but to leave my beloved Serzone. I'm on Celexa now, but it's just not the same. I hope to go back to Serzone one day. It was so good it was almost worth hearing a loud, high-pitched ringing all day & night...
Be healthy.
Justin
