Anyone else treating their depression with Mirapex? I am trying it for the 2nd time. Last year when I tried it the nausea was too debilitating. I started a week ago and have'nt suffered much nausea so far. Today I brought my dose up to 3 mg. I do feel my depression symptoms have lessend allready. After another week or so and I have raised my dose to 4 or 5 mg, I probably will add adrafinil and then later 25 mg of amisulpride. Anyone tied these together? Keep well, look after yourselves!

Yes, more people have responded to Mirapex for depression at the higher dose of .5 mg. For nausea, take some over-the-counter Emetrol. For fatigue, take some caffeine.
Its good that you're trying the newest stuff.

I'm a big proponent of Mirapex. It has helped me incredibly with apthy/anhedonia. I've been on it for about 1 year now and don't have any problems at 4-5 mg/day. IMO more people should give this one a try.
BTW, I take it with Nortriptyline and Zyprexa.

> BTW, I take it with Nortriptyline and Zyprexa.I just started PPX 4 days ago (0.25 mg. TID), and I'm already having many side effects. They include exacerbation of various OCD symptoms and compulsive movements (not involuntary), RLS, insomnia, anxiety, mild agitation (most likely due to lack of sleep), spaced-out feeling, some dizziness and overall malaise. I'm supposed to increase it to 1.5 mg/day in one week, but I think I might have to start over at 0.125 TID first. I have some dopamine sensitization, too, from prior high-dose neuroleptic exposure, and can't tolerate dopamine antagonists. I'm wondering if PPX, even though it's a dopamine agonist, is causing the movement problems. The most bothersome is compulsive stretching and flicking of first two toes on left foot. SSRIs, trazadone, atypical APs and other drugs at doses beyond certain thresholds cause compulsive movements, too. (I know dopamine has been implicated in OCD.)
I'm trying to avoid ECT, and also use Trileptal, Lamictal, low-dose Valium and Celexa, and Aricept (as a mood stabilizer and cognitive enhancer). Trileptal and Lamictal help depression (losing their effect lately), and Celexa 20 mg/day helps OCD symptoms, but no longer depression.
Anyone have any suggestions for adjuncts to relieve these Mirapex-induced side effects (especially the movements and insomnia) or any other suggestions to help me give it an adequate trial at a therapeutic dose?
TIA...

I just got an rx for Amantadine, a dopamine agonist used to treat neuroleptic induced EPS. Its also good I read for augmenting regular antidepressants in AD poopout. Amantadine is similar to Mirapex. One thing I dont understand is you mention you want to add amisulpride to the Mirapex? Whats up with that? That doesnt sound very logical or smart to me. Amisulpride is an anti-psychotic. Mirapex is a dopamine agonist. I can see adding a dopamine agonist like Mirapex to an anti-psychotic to fight EPS. But frankly I cant see adding an anti-psychotic to a dopamine agonist for purposes of combatting depression.
Doesnt make any sense to me. What is your thinking there?
