Going from Paxil to Zoloft

Posted by Jackster on April 24, 2001, at 2:36:40

Has anyone had experience changing from Paxil to Zoloft? I am currently on 40mg of Paxil - it has pooped out on me - I tried other drugs but they seemed to make the situation worse so I went back onto Paxil. Now I'm going to try Zoloft and I was wondering whether it would be better to ween off Paxil first or just go straight onto Zoloft?

The Paxil discontinuation syndrome can be annoying, so it is recommended to wean off of it for at least 2 weeks. http://www.dr-bob.org/tips/split/Antidepressant-discontinua.html

I recently went on Zoloft a week ago, after having tried every medication known to mankind for depression. I started on 200 mg as my first dose, and it has been really good. It destroyed my appetite (good for weight loss), and I haven't had any other side-effects.

I started zoloft a few days after stopping paxil cold turkey......the wd symptoms ended abruptly. I think you should start zoloft the next day after stopping.
