>I was recently prescribed seroquel as an adjunctive treatment with Wellbutrin.. I am unipolar, dysthymic, anhedonic and social phobic. I hated it and quit after 3 days. It made me very sleepy and I would awake groggy. I was also unable to concentrate. I was only on 25 mg. I believe my doc's reason for prescribing it was to help to control my anxiety. It controlled it all right...it knocked me out!!!

You are right about seroquel causing sedation, but in my case that was a blessing as I was suffering from insomnia. Even when I finally fell asleep, I could only sleep for three or four hours at a time, and sleeping pills didn't help. It was making me a physical and mental wreck. I always slept very well with the seroquel, and it was a tremendous relief.

> -GracieI have been taking 200 mg seroquel for about three months now and it has helped me significantly. Amoung other things I suffer from paranoia and schizophrenia. The conspiracy fears have been almost eleminated. It does have a sedation effect but when I wake up I don't feel hungover like the way I felt on Trazodone.

Dear War Cry Buddy,
I'm in another branch of the service but we're on the same mission. My family links to your organization run DEEP and wide;).
I'm sorry it took so long to get to you on this but: The mood disorder specialist I saw, Dr. Steven Dubovsky, suggested that Seroquel may be a possible adjunctive therapy. It was to be added on to one, or two mood stabilizers, to replace the Adderall I was on for depression/concentration issues AND Klonopin for anxiety. Now that my moods are almost completely stabilized, the concentration issue is not a real issue (neither is sleep phase delay). Mania/anxiety is at a minimum so I am slowly tapering off an already low dose of Xanax, which I have been taking on an as-needed basis.
I think you may know, I ended up on Trileptal, Lamictal and Geodon. Seroquel, when I tried it, made me a little sleepy and that was it - no other response - but I am treatment resistant (as so many others here).
Consider Geodon. It has worked very well for me without the side effects others have written about.
Removing sugar, white flour and yeast (see Candida thread) from my diet has proven to be a very good thing as well. The removal of sugar has been the most difficult. In one form or another, it is in almost EVERYTHING!! I'm going into week two on Tues. and I've adhered strictly.

My doctor added Seroquel to my Celexa (50 mg celexa) because I told her adding Risperdal to my Serzone earlier really helped with confidence, sense of humor, and loss of sentimentality. Eventually, I started having TERRIBLE racing thoughts, hateful feelings about loved ones, and seratonergic effects.
It was added as a adjunct for depression, not as an anti-psychotic.
The Celexa has made me lose impulse control to some degree. Having trouble with what I eat, avoiding the gym, smoking, drinking, spending money, doing cocaine. Had similar problems with Prozac.
What benefits can I expect at 25 mgs? Will I be able to lower my Celexa dose? I wake up at 4 am every day for work...will that be a problem?
