I have been on different meds for many years for treatment of panic disorder/Agoraphobia. For the past six months I had Prozac added to my Xanax regimen. I went from 40mgs down to 20mgs because I had no interest in anything, gained lots of weight, low self esteem and may as well have been agoraphobic because I don't want to do anything. I have managed to lose weight on the 20mgs with dieting but I still feel depressed, no interest in anything. I think I would rather cut out the Prozac, and be a happy recluse. Any ideas or personal experience with Prozac making someone feel depressed. I never felt depressed before the Prozac.
Thanks, Candace

The article available in the link below deals more with hypermania than depression, but suggests ways SSRIs can cause unwanted changes in serotinin levels.

> > Thanks, CandaceHi Candace, I became very apathetic , depressed and gained weight on 20 mg a day of Prozac. The weight gradually came off after I stopped taking it.
I am taking Effexor XR now and it helps without the apathy problems. I know it is approved for generalized anxiety now (I think). And I know several people who are using it successfully for panic disorder and agoraphobia. Maybe you could think about switching to that. Best wishes A.
