In reply to Prozac causing depression???, posted by Candace on April 10, 2000, at 18:22:26
The article available in the link below deals more with hypermania than depression, but suggests ways SSRIs can cause unwanted changes in serotinin levels.

> I have been on different meds for many years for treatment of panic disorder/Agoraphobia. For the past six months I had Prozac added to my Xanax regimen. I went from 40mgs down to 20mgs because I had no interest in anything, gained lots of weight, low self esteem and may as well have been agoraphobic because I don't want to do anything. I have managed to lose weight on the 20mgs with dieting but I still feel depressed, no interest in anything. I think I would rather cut out the Prozac, and be a happy recluse. Any ideas or personal experience with Prozac making someone feel depressed. I never felt depressed before the Prozac.
