I've made that mistake before... thinking that you were on the big (not necessarily better) island... in school... doing what you do best... thinking... thinking deep thoughts, very deep thoughts.
It's interesting to me that we can have so much difficulty interacting with people in everyday life, but we have wonderful, meaningful incounters with people we never see from lands we may never travel.
