She had a beautiful face

Posted by Joan797 on January 13, 2006, at 8:33:59

And so I returned with the inquiry....

"You never said I had a pretty face..."

"Ahhh but you have a beautiful intellect."

"Ohh, ok. I'm smart but not pretty.
'Boy's don't make passes as girls who wear glasses'"

And so the moment of akwardness was smoothed over by humor.

But she sits there afterwards, mad at herself.
Mad that she showed vulnerability.
Mad that she showed vainess.
Mad that she couldn't see the forest for the trees, or in this case, a compliment of utmost importance, because she would rather be told she was beautiful than intellectually stimulating.

How sad.
How very sad.

And yet, how very human.
