met some new friends, not of the straight and narrow
took us a ride to a joint called the arrow
Got me my check, and lord I love neon
and a cheesey juke box with Chuck berry and DionIt wasn't my call but I ordered a round
I was drinkin' guinness and Flieschman's
so I musta been beyond the beyond. And this guy comes up to me and says I'm sick to
sh*t of you
and he goes upside my head, not with his brew
but a rummy's pathetic fist
knocked my glasses askew.and I laffed at first cause I'd had a bit more than a few.
Then I saw red...it's not something new.
Then we were out in the parking lot
tried helping him up
but he kept falling down.
And I kept kicking him as long as he was down.
Hell, I was trying to help and there was a crowd
hanging 'round. Then there was this cop, blonde with a pony tail
asked me, I think, what was the matter.
I told her the truth and some other cops
scattered the gawkers and sightseers
only one thing was the matter
my new found buddies decided to scatter.
I got to walk home trying to fix my glasses
it didn't seem so far, just over the bridge,
and along the railroad tracks and underpasses.
I saw a bunch of deer
and wild turkeys greeting the morning
and I slept in my own bed
passed out...woke myself up snoring.
Fixed my glasses with a coupla drops of crazy
glue
Guess it's apropos, I'm crazy too.
But what I don't get, I was doin' the buying
why this fool had the nerve to hit me?
My cousin came by and said I'd busted the guys
ribs...you could've fooled me.
They say you do things in a blackout that you can never recall.
But nothing about a red out.
And i thought every time the guy fell
I was trying to help him.
What can I say, I didn't wind up in jail
And I'm not too sure what happened.
So, All's not just "oh, well" Cause the more I keep drinking
I'm coming closer to hell.[the cops called me and asked if I wanted to press charges. They were really professional.]
