Very moving and very powerful due to the details like the folded-up piece of paper stuck to the door and the requests for samples of medications. You really left yourself emotionally vulnerable by being so honest and personal, and I think that's what makes a piece of writing really stick with a reader. You've replaced a vague term like "poverty" with a real individual human presence suffering its effects. I've had experience myself not knowing where next month's rent was coming from -- my worst and most recurrent nightmare is ending up on the streets of the city, homeless and with no access to the meds I need to stave off a permanent crash-and-burn. This piece really resonates personally. Atticus
