Thanks, Jai. Everywhere I look, I see certain elements of society attempting a blue-nosed, neo-Victorian clamp-down on anything and everything that's out of sync with their sensibilities and personal moral code. The subcommittee chairman waving the piece of paper was meant to be suggestive of Sen. Joseph McCarthy (an endless source of embarrassment to us Irish folks) and a tactic he frequently used during his Commie witch-hunts in the 1950s. It's amazing that Lenny Bruce was challenging these linguistic "taboos" half a century ago, followed by George Carlin, and here we are, still afraid of "dirty" words when it's not these aggregations of letters that are dirty -- it's our minds that are dirty and obsessed with certain words. Why can I say "have sex" but not "f*ck"? Why can I say "poop" but not "sh*t"? It seems so bloody inane to me. Just utterly arbitrary. And then, of course, there's Dr. Bob's "War On '@ss'ing" on PB. You, Susan, and Phil are the three most recent victims. Anyway, thought I'd have a bit of fun and turn the forbidden words into anthropromorphic beings caught up in the equivalent of a McCarthyite crusade. Ta. ;) Atticus
