I find rigid logic to be a cage that constricts my thinking. I suspect that this is why Doc Bob and I are at loggerheads so often. I am frustrated that, at least to me, he appears to take all posted statements absolutely literally at face value, allowing little room for interpretation, hyperbole, for fluidly loose and funky conversation among PBers, for scenic detours (good way to draw a Redirect), for humorous asides, for snarky but good-natured banter. No place for these things in the world of a scientist.
I really wouldn't want to think like that. No artist in any medium ever created anything good using rigid linear logic. You can't write a poem using mathematical equations. Or paint a picture. Or compose a song.
Instead of feeling bad or defensive about being bipolar, I'm coming to embrace absurdity more and more.
Absurdity is beautiful. A degree of illogical thinking is essential to the creation of beautiful and emotionally moving things.
And as for the rest of the world, f*ck 'em if they can't see the joke. Or the beauty. Maybe the trick is to learn to be as comfortable as possible in our own skin. Just a thought. An illogical one. ;) Ta. Atticus
