Hi CS,
Sorry it's been so long.
> I want to work. I haven't been able to work face to face without crying for several years. Depression and anxiety are under some control but not enough so much I feel that I can successfully get myself out there yet.
Yeah I have the opportunity to work from home if I want/need to and have several colleagues (Project Managers) who do so full-time. Whether it works out well or not seems to be very much an individual thing. Some miss the interaction with people, others are just so glad not to have it, and to just come in for special events.
Basically in many jobs these days as long as you have fast reliable access and a phone you can be pretty much anywhere and it's the same as being in the office anyway.
> I have thought about maybe trying freelance journalism. No training, no education, but I have many ideas and there are local newspapers that are always looking for pieces.Well I'm thinking that'd be a great idea. Reader's Digest and all kinds of publications are always looking for stuff. Think you'd be great at that. There's a place here called the Australian College of Journalism that does correspondence courses, so I assume they'd have similar in the States. Basically just teaches you about the different styles and requirements for different types of publications, and how to submit articles and get published and stuff (there's assignments and stuff of course - which I guess you don't have to submit if you don't want to). I'd say go for it.
> Any advice or experiences people can share? Tips? Our main public affairs person works from home and she says that the main thing is just being disciplined around deadlines for stuff and dedicating enough time for what needs to be done. She said it works out well 'cause sometimes she's just in the mood and in the zone and churns through heaps of stuff and then can go easy or treat herself the next day because she's been really productive.
Hope that helped a little.
Just in case you need one,
(((((CS)))))
