Depression is causing me to underperform at work

I have an internship with a newspaper. Hopefully I'll get a good reference from them. However, the executive editor implied that he had noticed that I leave the office to take walks a lot and it was "kind of weird."
I take walks to get away, to clear my head, to be alone when I'm very sad.
Lots of times I sit at my desk and am too depressed to work. I am single and have no source of support besides myself.
