As the others have suggested, it is just good practice to discontinue most of the drugs used in psychiatric illnesses with a taper schedule whenever possible. That being said, I suffered no adverse effects when I abruptly discontinued taking Geodon at a dosage of 60mg. However, the drug was not helping me. In your case, you are convinced that Geodon has worked well as an antidepressant. The more gradually you remove an antidepressant, the lower is the risk of relapse.
I don't know of any taper schedule suggested for Geodon. Maybe you can reduce the dosage by 10mg every week.
I wish I could have been of more help.
Good luck.
