I have heard that some amino acids are helpful in curbing cravings for alcohol and carbs, particularly L-Glutamine. Perhaps you can do a search on the net using the criteria "amino acids alcoholism". I don't think benzos are the answer. You would just be using one potentially addictive substance to try to overcome another addiction. Plus, I don't know that benzos would actually stop the cravings for alcohol. One of my friends, and a fellow alcoholic, abused both alcohol and benzos for years. Good luck to you. It's hard to overcome alcohol addiction, but it can be done. I did it and certainly never thought I could, or even that I wanted to. But, 8 1/2 years later, I am still sober.
