This will never be told by doctors but it is a well known phenomenon that increasing serotonin levels can cause serious carbohydrate or sugar cravings (This much is well known), but many many people look for the quickets fix to rid themselves of these cravings which is alcohol.
Alcohol relieves these sugar cravings quicker than anything else available and so many people develop intense alcohol problems on the SSRI medications.Do a search, the evidence on the Net is overwhelming.
