something is (genuinely) a bit f'd up when it comes to women's weightclasses, in sport.
there was some australian weightlifter.. who was delegated to 'superheavy weight' of women's weightlifting.. from a background of success in 'power sports' like throwing...
she was saying that she did not feel like the aim of her game was to accumulate as much weight or mass about her core as she could develop in order to lift as much weight as possible.
she felt like she wanted or needed to rein in the weight accumulation and she functioned better with less weight about her core...
that is to say.. she felt there needed to be another weight class before they declared super heavy weight for women.
and if you looked at her.. compared to the men of the super heavy class.. she did not look like a female version of them. with respect to the amount of fat that her core could carry. It looked like she was packing muscular weight still and could have grown more muscle maybe even to fill a weight class...
anyway...
apparently there is still 'fat shaming' and 'weight shaming' that happens to women in womens sport (does not happen to men in mens sport). so... we are not there yet...
