well, that's not true.
they don't do anything themselves.
they have large teaching workloads...
and by the seems of it they only give good grades, now, to students who report back to the lecturer exactly what the lecturer said to them. that is to say they write up the lecturers lecture or powerpoint into essay format and that is all. they are allowed to summarise only.
then what happens (in a thesis, say) is that the student summarises the lectures that the supervisor gave them (say in an in person meeting) and writes them up and presents them to the supervisor. then the supervisor asks questions about the write-up either in the margins or in person.
then the student writes the questions in as objections. and then responds to the questions or objections with what the supervisor says in response to the questions or objections that they raised.
and in this manner students are... doing the equivalent of writing down the Kripke lectures. that's how the students are allowed to do work. transcribing what the supervisor or the lecturers say.
that's how you write a PhD thesis that your supervisor thinks is good enoguh to be signed off.
thten the work goes to externals. and of course they don't like your superlvisors views they like their own views. so they get you working for them, now. they have questions and they want bits to be delieted.
so now you have crying tantrums because one person wants page 4 to be removed and another person thinks page 4 is the best page of all.
and now you are supposed to...
