articulate reasons, weigh them, get at the likely truth, progress things from there, in a timely fashion.
not in the law courts, and not in any other context, either (e.g., not in academia when it comes to writing a thesis).
just exhorbitant amounts of time wasted on peripheral issues or whatever.
i think it does make the most sense to understand it as stabotage. it isn't ineptitude or incompetence there is a willful misunderstanding. that's what's going on.
it happens with stats too.
the idea is that stats or reasoning is a tool. the idea is that you 'can' (in some sense of 'can') argue things both ways, or show (with stats) things to be both ways...
so these things are just a tool. you use them to support whatever it is that you already decided on independent grounds.
(on what kinds of independnet grounds? why your preexisting biases and so on).

there is no undresetanding of conducting yourself or your investigation with integrity or honesty to get to a greater truth.
of course they squawk at me that i'm guilty of the one-sided thing (my thesis etc).

you know, they are still squawking about how garbage i am.
i applied to be enrolled in a 120 point qualification (1 year full time) and dthey refused to get my work to external examiners becuase they wanted to prevent and prohibit them signing off that i completed the qualification within the 1 year on a full time basis.
that is to say they determined that they would not accept anything from me unless it was late (they decided i must be a 'slow learner / slow worker') else they would not acknowledge any work from me, at all.

because they'd rather keep me as slave or just have me die already. right? i mean, they would rather i not do anything at all. they would rather i be dead already or if i'm alive i just be meat. right?
that's their vision for development.
becuase its sooooooooo competitive. they are paid to ensure nobody else get anything done.
