Curious as to what meds you have tried? I ask because anger was (and still sometimes 'is'...it's impossible to erase a human quality completely..and I don't think you want to)
part of my diagnosis. Anger can show up in depression, anxiety, or in bipolar disorder. Benzos help 'a bit', but they can be a bit dangerous with anger, kind of like alcohol. They act as a dis-inhibitor. I was dx'd as Bipolar 2, after an episode where I was quite wound up on my first run of Zoloft, and I was taking about 5-6 mg of Xanax a day to try and control the anxiety and mania. I ended up phoning a co-worker and leaving a very hateful, nasty message on his answering machine. I didn't go to jail, but no wonder I was fired, after 8 years of good employment, a few days latter.I'd really suggest you talk with your doctor about this, and about the possible combination of a mood stabilizer and a small dose of an antidepressant. It may take a bit to figure out what works best. Also, other's may disagree, but a small dose of an atypical anti-psychotic combined with either both or one of those meds I just mentioned could prove to be effective. I'd caution to keep the dose low, especially to avoid nasty side effects, such as drastic weight gain.
If you are even just considering this stuff, I think you are on your way to feeling better. I know what it feels like to carry around a ton of anger, and it is not something I'd wish anybody to ever have to go through.
Let us know what you think, as we have a lot of people on here with many experiences with different medications.
