I am going to think about this for a long time. Well first of all my goal size isn't all that big, 2.5mm in diameter (when stretched out) or 10 gauge, which looks even smaller without jewelry. I'm thinking of going up a gauge every year, so first year at 16 gauge, second year at 14 gauge, third year at 12 gauge, then finally in 4 years I will be at 10 gauge.

I'm planning on staying at 16 gauge or 1.2mm for 1 year. Surely that is enough time to think about things?
Again I'm not going to have huge holes in my ear. If I want huge holes I'll make sure to get them when I'm retired so it wouldn't affect my career.
I personally do not like the huge holes myself.
