Maybe the key isn't accepting as truth everything that people say, but rather separating the sayer from the words said.
Someone could be a brain surgeon and believe some highly improbable doomsday scenario. It's not *all* of who they are.
Maybe the key to not being arrogant isn't so much accepting people's choices as something you're ok with, but not globally condemning a person for some of their choices.
Life is full of contradictions. Accepting those contradictions and keeping an open mind about the greater part of something in face of a small part of the same thing opens your world to all sorts of fascinating possibilities.
