I guess what I'm saying Re; stimulants & anxiety, is that there is a point where if your mood is high enough stressors are seen as a challenge, and as a source of motivation. In these circumstances 'anxiety' is closer to nervousness. I usually consider nervousness as an inner tension that sharpens my senses and primes me for action - it's performance enhancing and can be quite exhilarating. Anxiety on the other hand is usually prohibitive and tends to lead to avoidance and poor performance and low self esteem over time.
I suppose they are different manifestations of the same mental energy or nervous tension, one constructive and performance enhancing, the other destructive and soul destroying. Mood often seems to be modifying factor in determining whether that energy is used to work for me or against me, i.e. whether it's perceived as anxiety or nervousness, hence why I suspect the mood elevating drugs like amphetamine and Parnate can be helpful despite increasing nervous tension.
[The nervousness turns into anxiety when 'coming down' off stimulants as mood plummets, hence the popularity of using benzos/barbs concomitantly - the upper/downer combo to create balance and minimize this side effect.]
