So, if I go to the myspace website and look at their pages, from my home computer, does that mean they can tell I (me, personally) was looking? I'd rather look anonymously, but I heard that people can tell who looks at their pages. These are all adults with pages full of their writing, artwork, etc, by the way. Former classmates of mine, and my curiousity is going nuts.

NO- no one can tell who is visiting their pages- no matter if you are a member or not. There is a spam message that is sent around myspace that says if you put a certain code on your page, you can see who views your profile- but it's in fact spam and the code is actually a way for people to steal passwords.
The only way anyone knows if someone was on their page (a specific person) is if you leave a comment or message- which you have to be a member to do... and you have to be their friend (to boot) to be able to leave a comment)
It's a folklore that anyone can tell who's actually looking at their page. Myspace has made it so that there is no internal IP address, meaning there is no "footprint" when you visit a page.
This leads to a lot of spying. Hahaha
