I would definately get a cat - one that is a good mouser.
Which, I admit, can be a little hard to find.
Currently I have two house cats. One, a mouse could walk up to it, eat its food and start nibbling its whiskers and it would just sit there purring.
The other, however, is a super mouser. You can just see the wildness in his eyes.
