Jost, no clouds in the sky today
I saw an art exhibit on Haita art. that's native American art from the west coast of canada. Think- totem poles and ceremonial masks. I had no idea that the culture was so profoundly artistic. Really really ingenious woodworking techniques. Ingenuity and beauty and functionality. The hallmarks of brilliant design.
Went to a few nice lectures. Gave my presentation. (went well). Ate sockeye salmon, grilled medium rare (spectacular).
Walked 4 miles around the big park and took a trolley the rest of the way.
all in all, a day full of omega-3 fatty acids, exercise and pleasant chatter. no time to feel down.

yes, Jost, a very interesting summer. My dissertation advisor seems to agree with the fact that I should take a little time off. Says we Americans work too hard, and for what?
