I asked the hotel concierge for the directions to the bakery. took a walk there. observed the differences in people, attitudes, demographics, lifestyles. It's so subtle, but still prominent.
I bought a half-dozen buttertarts. yep that's right. I ate one already. it was rich, and ever so slightly syrupy in the middle. I have to say that the version that I made at home has the correct flavor profile. I need to work on achieving the syrupy quality too, but Larry Hoover gave me tips on that a while back. prebake the tart shells and don't cook the filling until it boils.
I don't know if I will be able to leave the room again. next lecture is in 5 minutes. famous person, but so far the famous ones have been awfully disappointing...
