This reminds me of my mother's feeling inadequate relative to my paternal grandmother, who was very active (or so I'm told, I was very young) in church and volunteer activities. My mom told her she felt bad that she did so little herself and my grandmother told her she never really did anything either when she had kids living at home. My mother had five children; needless to say that doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else!

Even if you are busy there are still dozens of acts of charity you can perform every day, without formally putting in hours "volunteering."
