If I read a paper that missed the point of the assignment but nevertheless clearly demonstrates that the student has achieved the aims and outcomes of the course as a whole, then I'd be prepared to give an A.

would having the student stand over to the side while you grade it make a difference in the grade you gave? maybe I had sad puppy dog eyes....I dont think i did but I just wonder if he thought omg this girl is an airhead....and gave it to me out of pitty

> In other words, if the stduent hasn't answered the question I asked but has answered an equally interesting and relevant question and has done a good job of it, then I'd be prepared to give an A.

thats possible, I knew I screwed it up, but I had alot of obvious work put into it...i think

> Where I come from that A wouldn't be taken away. You got it and you will keep it. But if you're concerned you could talk to your teacher/professor about it. In fact, I think you should talk to your teacher or professor anyway because it would probably be helpful for you to know where you went wrong when you missed the point of the assignment - you don't want to risk that happening again!

I wouldnt be comfortable, but I know i shuold, it was actually really embarrassing because I didnt think 'he' would be grading it, and I thought I would be anonomous, maybe Ill send an email...

> Congratulations on your A!
