Wow - I'm glad my doctor doesn't insist on such things. I simply wouldn't have done it. But is it really necessary if someone is taking the Pill for reasons other than contraception (which I think was the original context of the question)?

Again, I believe the smear is for women who have been sexually active with men. Women who have never had vaginal sex with a man don't need it... well, at least, that's what I've been told. But if anyone knows different please let us know!
