Yes, you need to get a gyno exam. They're not the greatest but they're really not all that bad. They're REALLY quick and it's over quickly. I purposely chose a woman doctor b/c I knew I'd be really uncomfortable with a man for a gynecologist. My Dr. is really professional and nice and makes it super-easy.
It's a good idea to get a checkup every year just to make sure everything is "ok" -- the Pap smear is esp. important. I kind of hate going for it, but it really IS over in less than a few minutes!
But I totally understand about not wanting to be touched. It IS a really personal thing.
