Yeah. I think 'theo' is something like the study of god or religion or the bible or something like that. 'logos' is reason - I think??? and 'logy' is something like 'thinking about' or 'study of' so there is 'psychology' which means study of the psyche, philosophy which means study of philo (wisdom) etc etc. So 'theology' would be study of god or religion or the bible or something like that I suppose...
Perhaps someone else knows???
I dare say a theodicy isn't supposed to be an idiotic defence - because the theodicies are typically advanced by people who think they are good defences...
