Ew, marmite. It is very different from vegemite. I have never met anybody who liked them both and which one you like tends to be the one you are raised on.

Marmite is made by concentrating animal stuff,
Vegemite is made by concentrating vegetable stock.

Marmite reeks, I can't stand it but I crave vegemite sometimes, probably for the salt and the vitamin B.
