Good bands...love Nirvana, Soundgarden...also love Tool, Deftones (great dark music to go down and down too..especially at maximum levels.) Also like Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails...the new Sara Mclachlan disk is excellent..and Coldplay is sweet. I also like Ministry (hardcore industrial), Sepultura (South American Death Metal), Slipknot (really f*cked up sh*t!..more 'happy' music..:-)
It's nice that at 34, I listen to music 100 times heavier and louder than people half my age. I just grew up with very hard rock, from Black Sabbath to Zepplin to Rush. Knowing how to play is theraputic for me too..as I first learn't drums, then bass. I love to pound the sh*t outta my instruments...good therapy. :-) I'd suggest anyone take up an instrument..it brings confidence (learning how to play *good*) and creativity.
