This kind of question, "is depression a disease" I usually associate with someone who has some sort of agenda. I mean, what difference does it make? If someone is depressed, and then take medications and/or get therapy, and are helped by that, then ...? IMO people are trying to sell books, get published, get attention...Labels are useful in order to have a starting point from which to devise treatments. That's my take on this.
