We've gone off on a few tangents on this thread, but I think the point is that your feelings about your therapist's wife say more about you than they do about her, and it would probably be very helpful for you to discuss your feelings with your therapist. Many of our feelings towards our therapists and their families speak volumes about us, the patients. That's part of the transference. Most of us feel jealousy, envy and even intense rivalry towards our therapists' spouses and children. I think you should be honest with yourself and with your therapist. Tell him what you've told us here. Remember: One of the main goals of therapy is to "Know thyself."
