Emme,
so what's the chocolate whose gospel you're proclaiming?
Lately I've kept a Rausch brand Tobago 75% cocoa chocolate bar in my bag. It's potent - one block hits the chocolate spot. I thought it was a fair trade product, but now that I read the package again I'm not sure.
There are a couple of Ritter brand Bailey's bars from a friend in the cupboard, but I haven't tried them yet. They're only 37% cocoa, so I'm not optimistic. I guess their selling point is the Bailey's, not the chocolate.
Sometimes I like milk chocolate, but I haven't found the ideal one yet.
Do you like chocolates, as in the praline confection things? What kinds? A lot of people go gaga over Godiva, but they're made by machine, with lots of preservatives. They're mostly flashy packaging, a product for people who don't recognize the inferior quality of the contents.
The business coach I saw brought out those Ferrero Rocher pralines. They're heavily advertised by that James Bond actor, and I suspect that the coach was taken in by that. Again, glitzy packaging and great marketing, but disappointing substance. I said no thanks and brought out my own bar, in case I decided I did want real chocolate. He made fun of mine! For other reasons, I'm not going to see him again, but jeesh, making fun of my high-octane chocolate wasn't a good way to go.
