Hi Searchlight:-)
Thank you for your post:-) You had asked if my illness makes me do things that hurt you/others.
Yes, it has and it does, unfortunately. I think many mental illnesses can do that.
I have a great psychiatrist who also does therapy with me, so I'm doing my part in getting well.
Thank you for offering me a new 'ear'~that's very nice of you. I will take you up on that kind offer, if it still stands?
I come here mostly now to just share my experience and try to help people out who want information, support, and experience of medications, therapy, and things I have been through that they need help with. I also tend to need support from others when I am feeling really hopeless about things.
I've had major depression (re-ocurring) since about 1992 when my fiance and I broke up, and things in my life were all up in smoke for other reasons too.
Right now, I am a student majoring in Liberal Studies with 2 minors~Psychology and Health. I transferred to a different university as a senior Psychology major, but lost a lot of units towards that BA, I will be graduating next year, if all goes well *crossing fingers and praying*
If I can be of any help and/or support to you, I'm here for you, please believe that.
I started posting here about 7 months ago, took a break, because I was hospitalized, and have started posting again the last few months.
Anyway, thank you again for your post, and I hope to talk to you more soon.
Take care,
Kristen:-)Anyway, I hate to ask, but does your illness make you do things that hurt you/others? If this is the case, if you show a lot of effort in keeping with your docs and the meds, people with similar maladies will likely be more forgiving.
> Mental illness can do things to our minds that afterward horrify us when we are able to step back at cetain times. Please know that a lot of us understand that. All we can do is our best to keep the many problems at bay. If you need a new ear, I am "hear" (and I am a psych major - a real one- with real problems of my own too). I am also 37 and not new to dealing with things (I have had bad atypical depression for over 25 years).
