Yes, you do need a prescription for Topamax.
My G.P wasn't initially going to prescribe it.
But I have NO problem being very outspoken with him.
I had to bring him web articles I found from a few Psychiatrists who prescribe it simply to counteract the weightgain from other psychotropic medication.
These particular psychiatrists acknowledged that weight gain is a very distressing side effect and deserved to be taken seriously. (AMEN!)
Both my G.P, and my former Psychiatrist shrugged it off.It ended up being a very good medication for my mood as well. Though I know that is not the case for everyone.
Being angry could definitely be a result of a low carb diet. I know I get angry though just because I feel like I have so little control over anything, my brain, my weight, being saddled with this cursed disease, knowing My Dr. can change my life with a swipe of his pen, its hard not to have it get to you.
