Bolivia is in South America just north of Argentina, east of Chile and Peru, south of Columbia, borders Brazil on its east. It is the poorest Latin American country, with the average salary about $230 U.S. However, of all the Latin countries I have visited, I felt the most welcomed there. I don't mean to denigrate anyone, so please don't anyone from Uruguay or Chile rise up in protest We stayed in Cochabamba, a city of about 500,000. Visited the Cristo (which is taller than the one in Rio De Janeiro, though I had never heard of it before), and got to go about 17,000 feet up Mt. Tunari, almost to the snow cap (it was summer there, by the way). It was one of the most beautiful places I have been on this earth (Mt. Tunari). Got to chew some coca leaf, drink "original formula" Coca-Cola, yes THAT formula (although I didn't even discover that until about a day before we left). If was one of those "frozen in time" moments for me that was, well, spiritual. But you DO need a passport.
Thanks for asking!PAX
