Poll of the Day - standard Sofa or Sofa Bed!!!

OK.. I'm buying a new sofa!!! Found one I like very much, and if I order before 5pm wednesday I get 40% off... which means we could afford the sofa bed version of it!
But the dillema here is.. are sofa beds as sturdy as a day to day sofa as a standard one is!!
As a bed it owuld be used, maybe, once every 4 months... and we have a futon already for guests.
My mum (who is paying for said sofa!) says get the sofa bed, but i don't want a sofa that will fall apart in 5 years time!!
Anyone got any ideas or experience??
Oh, the dillemas of modern living!! *lol*
