Hi Nikki,

If you are able to pull back, I wouldn't put the time into writing directly to this guy. He obviously thrives on this controversy. It sounds like he's practiced playing his game, so that he can easily use a complaint as an opportunity to demean you even further.

Although I would imagine that his affiliated university already knows about his point of view, if you have one of his inappropriate quotes in writing, you might send off a letter to their psychiatry department. You also might want to research if he gets any grants for research on PD; if so cc a copy to the funding source.

As a past prolific angry letter writer, I have finally learned to evaluate whether a letter could realistically have *any* impact. If it might, go for it. If not, you might be better off just letting it go and not allowing this "bloke" any more of your time and attention. (Often times, I find it cathartic to write the letter, but wait a while before deciding to send it. More often than not, recently, I decide not to put it through the mail (e-mail or otherwise).

Sorry you had to listen to this guy insult you and your friend,

Shelli
