I went along to two mental Health Conferences last week. One of the new Personality Disorder Bill going through Parlimant (oops, should say I'm in UK!) and another PD conference pon friday.
Anyway, there was a Proffessor who spoke at both.
On wednesday's one, in front of "service users" (ie, those with a PD) he said "peopl with Borderline Personality Disorder are just vampires sucking everything out of the system"
On fridays he said similar things covering all PD's.. such as they're all prickly hedgehogs who no one can help, are all drama queens etc etc.
This really upset a friend of mine who is still feleing rough because of it.
Now, I want to really complain about this bloke. I have searche dthe net, found the University he is associated with, even his phone number and email address!!
BUT... am worried that by complaining I will just be living up to his "needy and whinging" stereotype. Someone at the conference stood up and challenged him, and he basiclaly said "see, that proves my point".
How can I say something about it, without seeming like I am "acting out"??!!
I can't believe he said these things at a conference!!!
