So...Andrew Solomon spoke at the Mood Disorders Support Group in NYC...and he was soooo good. His book, Noonday Demon, contains some beautiful writing, so it made us feel very happy that he thought so highly of Undoing Depression.
The next day we visited Ground Zero. It has been hard to get my mind around the shock, horror, enormity of it all. And I wonder if there can ever be peace in the world when there are people who live in such extreme poverty that they can be manipulated to carry out violent acts in the name of religion or history or whatever.
I don't suppose this is the place for my ranting, but how will things ever change when so small a percentage of the world's people have almost all the power/stuff?
Then we went to the Met and saw Tosca. We have always wanted to see an opera for real (not just on TV)...and we probably will never get to go again because it's incredibly expensive. And damn if I don't feel guilty every time I get to do something I don't "need" to do. Luckily, we got my paxil increased or I wouldn't be able to enjoy anything.
