Therapy by phone on an as-needed basis?

Posted by mist on December 7, 2001, at 1:23:22

I'm not in therapy right now but sometimes I feel a need to talk to a therapist/counselor over the phone. Is there a list somewhere on-line of therapists who are on call to do phone sessions?

I need this mostly for support and at times dealing with feeling very depressed, (or sad, in pain, etc). So it wouldn't have to be someone who knew me, just who had the basic skills and qualities required to help people get through a low time.

Even if I did have a regular therapist I'd rather have someone else to call at odd hours when necessary. Does anything like this exist? It would have to be by phone rather than email. Hearing someone's voice and actually talking to them would make a difference.
