In other words, if you have symptoms 1, 2 & 3 you may get diagnosed as having condition A which usually has symptoms 2,3 & 4. The usual treatment for that condition may address symptons 3 & 4 but you'd still be better off with something that addressed 1 & 2. Confused yet?
