Something tells me that this is just lip service. I'm generally a very stoic person, and I take it on the chin alot without complaint, but the effexor withdrawal kicked my ass. I was extremely depressed and irrational for 20 days. Anyhow, you are right about pharmaceutical companies being rotten SOB's, as for every seven dollars they spend, only two is on actual research and development. The rest is for inflated incomes for non-scientists and marketing. WA has a great antidepressant, but they have a complete obligation to make everyone aware of the terrible withdraw syndrome. I am by no means naive about drugs, as I had taken almost every other antidepressant before taking effexor without anywhere near the difficulty on ceasation.
