In reply to lawsuit may be in order, posted by Terry Comeau on July 11, 2001, at 21:30:02
Not to diminish anyones ordeal w/ comming off Effexor... And not to diminish the responsibility of Wyeth Ayerst in informing both the medical comunity and its user base of possible side effects...... however...I am no fan of the pharma industry, they are of course, money grubbing whores... however, I think that it might be naieve to think you could take a drug like Effexor for an extended amount of time and -not- have withrdawl symptoms from stopping... There is more than enough evidence on the web concerning the withrawl symptoms of Effexor yet people act like it totally took them by suprise...
I'm on Effexor now, I probably wont have to come of it for some time, but I'll be fully prepared.... I'm on Xanax now as well, my doctor never told me anything about tollerance or withdrawl, but this is well known concerning Xanax...
Is W.A. irresponsible in its literature concerning the possibility of withdrawl symptoms? Perhaps... Is it worthy of a lawsuit? In my opinion, No... It seems to me that the benefits of Effexor for people far outweigh the side effects and withdrawl... I dont think there is any free ride in the psych-pharma game... You can't expect to take a life-altering drug and not have some additional unwanted effects... I think -all- drug use comes with some price...
Ultimately, it's -your- body people, do your homework, research, don't suffer needlessly...
